Advances in image processing offer the potential for revolutionizing
several applications, including search and rescue operations,
bio-hazard monitoring, and military target detection.
Tanner Labs has furthered state-of-the-art image processing
technology on a number of fronts. For example, the Tanner
Wave Process, based
on neuromorphic models, offers compact target detection even
when the background is cluttered. We have also developed a
computationally efficient optical
flow algorithm for self-navigating robots, and we have
devised a compact analog circuit that computes the continuous
wavelet transform in real-time
for video sequences.
